Asha is a licensed Occupational Therapist & Reiki Master Practitioner/Teacher who uses holistic approaches incorporating the mind, body and spirit. She has been a licensed OT practitioner for the past nine years, after graduating with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Boston University’s Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in 2008. During her experiences as an OT, she found fulfillment in connecting with people with various disabilities, hearing their unique stories, and helping them regain inner strength and promote independence through a therapeutic and client centered approach. She adopted the belief that everyone has the ability to kickstart their self healing process, and found herself deeper exploring energy medicine, particularly Reiki, after her own struggles with an autoimmune condition. She was additionally inspired to pursue Reiki by her late aunt, Urmila Surti, who was a Reiki Master in India who many sought to see. After her first trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand, she felt drawn to completing her Reiki Master certification with Nicholas Harris, RMT, and recently went back in November 2017 to complete teacher training. During her travels to Southeast Asia, Asha realized that energy is constantly traveling and released as needed to heal the physical, mental. emotional and spiritual levels of the body.
Asha’s experiences have led her to work with many populations, including geriatrics, pediatrics, and adolescents, in a variety of settings, including schools, clinics and in home treatment. Diagnoses worked with, but not limited to, have included: developmental delays, autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, arthritis, pain, autoimmune disorders, traumatic brain injuries, stroke, cancer, genetic disorders, and neuromuscular diseases.
