Elvin Vallejo has been a Clinical Mental Health Counselor since 2013. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from St. Peter’s University. He later graduated from Seton Hall University with a Master’s of Arts degree in Counseling, where he also obtained an Education Specialist Certificate. During his time at Seton Hall, Elvin gained the theoretical knowledge in the field of counseling, but it was through his direct work with clients where he was able to hone and perfect his practical counseling skills. Elvin has worked at several hospitals in the State of New Jersey, where he predominantly worked in outpatient settings with both adults and children. He also had the opportunity to gain extensive experience in both at-home and school settings.
Elvin’s wholistic counseling approach focuses on both body and mind. He does not subscribe to one particular mental health theory, but rather draws from different theories that he believes will be most beneficial to the clients with whom he works with. His focus is on addressing the issues that bring the client to therapy, as well as identifying any underlying issues that may be the root cause of the problems.
Like most Mothers, Gina found the first few months after having her daughter trying, both physically and mentally. She experienced pain in her back and arm from feedings and holding the baby. She was exhausted by the sleepless nights. And mentally drained from the worries of now caring for a human being. For the physical ailments Gina sought out help from her chiropractor, acupuncturist and physical therapist. While each of these modalities eased her pain and kept the discomfort at bay, the pain would return. During a CST session for her
daughter (post a lip and tongue tie release procedure), Gina mentioned these pains to the practitioner. She scheduled an appointment for herself and after the first session she immediately experienced relief – both physically and mentally. Gina’s life was changed. Although still tired, the feeling of complete exhaustion was gone. She felt like someone had hit a reset button and she was able to better focus on both her daughter and her.
Gina studies with Dr. Ron Wish, a leading CST practitioner in the Northeast, at the Great River Craniosacral Therapy Institute for both her beginning and advanced trainings. In addition, she also takes course at the Upledger Institute International, “a healthcare resource center recognized worldwide for its comprehensive education programs, advanced treatment options and for its unique outreach initiatives.”
