Psychiatry with Dr. Vinod Suresh

Mental health has been pushed to the forefront as we navigate these times of COVID. There are conversations using the term “pre-COVID” and all of the concessions that we have to make with ourselves and others. It’s important to recognize how we can cope so that we can start living among these changes, while still looking with hope towards the future.

Dr. Vinod Suresh offers both Psychotherapy and medication management via Telehealth appointments so that you can meet your mental health needs. Request a free 10min consultation and book an appointment by email,
or call (551) 233-9003

Massage Awareness Week
October 25th-31st

Massage is beyond a luxury. It has been shown to aid both physical and mental health whether for 15 minutes or 90 minutes.

Why are sessions offered in as little as 15 minutes? These sessions are geared more for acute injuries such as an ankle strain which is a relatively small joint and affected area. For issues regarding the neck, I usually recommend at least a 30min session since it usually also involves the chest and shoulders – possibly even into the low back.

Why would you schedule a 90min appointment? Often our physical tension is related to our mental tension and we need additional time for the brain to register that it’s time to relax in order to let the muscles release. It can also be for those who perform rigorous exercise or long computer work days that accumulate muscle mass or tension that takes a bit longer to respond and retain the change that we’re looking for. Most often, if you’re looking for a full body massage and you want to address a specific complaint, I recommend a 90min appointment.

Which discomforts could you do without?

AcuSI3

Acupressure on the Go

As I’m integrating Acupressure into my practice, and hands-on bodywork is still a while away from opening in Hoboken, I would love to help you find ways to create ease in your body.

I’m now offering complimentary email consultations to identify Acupressure points that you can use on your own body for relief, for a Limited Time. This is a new technique for me, so please limit your requests to two main complaints per consultation and let me know what you think of the recommended points.

Acupressure & Why you should try it –

Acupressure is most easily described as Acupuncture without the needles. It utilizes the Chinese meridian system and points to relieve physical pain, digestion, mental fog, etc. A lot of the point work can be self-administered for maintenance of chronic complaints, so it is an incredibly useful tool. You can use your fingertip(s), pencil eraser, or any other bluntly pointed tool. It can be safely used once per day for acute complaints, or 2-3 times a week for maintenance of on-going issues.

How it (most recently) helped me –

I suffer from sciatica-type pain down my leg, often have a hard time simply lying down, and can wake up from the discomfort. Last night was definitely the case, including a throbbing sensation all the way to the bottom of my foot. Tossing and turning didn’t help, so I decided to try some Acupressure points. I tried one on my outer hip (GB30) and one on my lower leg (GB34), and not only did the discomfort at those points go away, but my low back shooting sensation did as well!…Needless to say, I’d love to pass along the relief.

How to go about getting your Recommended Points –

To ensure that your information is secure, please use the contact form below to request a consultation. I will then get back to you over a secure server to address your specific complaints.

I look forward to working with you!

Keeping Up With Your Wellness Goals – Virtually

Team Up With Our Practitioners

& Achieve Your Wellness Goals

From physical to mental health, we can work with you to find your balance with customized wellness plans.

Since we are all isolated in our own physical and societal bubbles, it can be easy to forget that we still have goals and norms that we want to maintain. The “when this is all over” is not really a mindset that we have a luxury of having. We don’t know when things will be normal again, and when things are normal again…do we want to have to restart our wellness goals from scratch? Or do we want to maintain as much as we can, and even potentially improve as we emerge on the other side of this pandemic?

I urge you (and myself) to gauge how you feel presently. Do you want to feel better in any capacity? If the answer is yes, then please know that you can reach out to any of us. Times are tough, and Together we can help each other get through this.

Expanding Skill Sets to Bring More Value

A Message from Erin:

I always have a list of continuing education that I would like to pursue. This pandemic is giving me the perfect opportunity to learn more, and to help you feel better…it’s just a different manifestation of a typical appointment with me.

As a massage therapist, I’m used to being expected to create the change that my clients are looking for. Now, I’m being called upon to help you create the change for yourself. No one is expected to have all of the background and experience that I’ve acquired in order to make a difference in their lives. Instead, I can help guide you through techniques to make a difference in your life Today.

Below is a list of self care techniques that can be included in your consultation depending on your current needs.

  • Self and/or Partner Massage
  • Traditional stretching techniques + Use of Tools
  • Yoga technique consultations to avoid repetitive use injuries
  • Yin Yoga
    • Stretches held for an extended period of time based on Chinese meridians
  • Acupressure
    • Use of specific points (acupuncture without needles) to relieve common complaints, and even diagnosed conditions
  • Mudras
    • Use of hands as symbols to help bring you into the present moment
    • Examples can include calming energy or connecting your breath to your body, and even an energizing effect

Still prefer that I do the work?

Schedule your Distance Reiki session where I work with energy balancing.

How does it work?

  • We schedule a day/time for the Reiki session to begin.
  • You can either go about your busy day, or you can find some quiet time to yourself, knowing that I’m working with your energy at a distance.
  • A follow up call, email, or text (based on your preference) is conducted shortly after the session, and may include beneficial practices to help you continue to find your balance.
    • Examples include: breath practices, mudras, yoga poses, reinforcing productive behaviors, and self-administered acupressure
